Welcome from the President… Hello fellow adventurers and future MBOCers! 2013 is set to be another jam-packed, fun-filled year in the great outdoors! I challenge you to read through the succeeding pages, meet our reps from each of our outdoor/indoor section and tell me you do not want to pack your bags right now and head out on an adventure. I joined this club four years ago and couldn’t imagine my life without it. Through it, I’ve become a climbing fanatic and have travelled climbing and hiking around Australia, NZ, the Himalayas and all over Europe. It’s been an amazing journey! Being a student is the time to go out and see what the world has to offer. I’m so excited to get to know a whole new group of people with whom to go on some amazing adventures. The club offers a diverse range of sports; hiking, climbing, kayaking, rafting, caving, mountain biking and xc skiing. On top of this we love to hang out and go camp in some of the most beautiful places in Victoria and Australia. We encourage anyone to join; staff, students and their friends. You don’t have to be amazingly fit or know your way around the wilderness. That will come! Just bring your enthusiasm and your passion for the outdoors and I can guarantee you will have an amazing time. MBOC is a club run by members FOR members. We run trips to suit all experiences – from an easy stroll through rolling hills of the Cathedrals National Park to digging your own pit in the snow to camp down in the middle of winter, or an adrenaline-fuelled paddle down rapids. Our section reps are here to guide you if you are a beginner, and in no time you will gain enough experience and skills to be able to run your own trips!! To get things started, we encourage all new members to join us on Bumbly Day Out, a day trip to you to get a taste of mountain biking, kayaking and rogaining. Next up we have Carnage, a weekender a few hours away from Melbourne to do some more mountain biking, rock climbing and hiking in the iconic Grampians National Park. We will also be running some free BBQ’s after O-Week for members to get to meet the committee and visit our Blockhouse (where we store all our adventure gear!). For more »

Hey guys - I’ll be running a trip to the Grampians first weekend of mid semester break (leaving friday evening and coming back sunday night). We’ll carpool up there. Rock Climbing There’s a chance for sport climbing (above 18s) for those who want to do that (like myself), Also – a chance for those who have learned a little about anchors to do some set ups using natural boulders etc. of any climbs they’d like to climb, we’ll all head to the same area so I’ll check them off for you. Intermediate Top Rope climbers can also come (if you had fun at you yangs this weekend you’ll have fun there)- Myself or others under my supervision will set up a few climbs in the same area as I plan on sport climbing for you to do Hiking There’s a few beautiful day hikes (Mt Zero, Mt Stapylton etc. around that head up to beautiful peaks with stunning look outs- small groups can head of hiking. Rock climbers can also do one day of climbing and one day of hiking if you’d like. Its up to you – I may head out hiking for a day too. I can help you organise where to hike and how to get to the starting point by car etc. but the rest is up to you As there won’t be supervision on the hikes (you’ll head off in groups of interested people who know the basics of hikes in an area where you’re unlikely to get lost) , I can’t make this an official club trip, so everyone will have to take care of themselves – but I’m sure most of you have grasped that basic concept by now Its a nice campsite where we can make a campfire. But you’ll need to bring your own food (hot + camping stove or cold) , a tent and any other hiking gear – outline of what you need for this kind of trip. The club hires out most things. There are toilets, no showers. Basic cost will be; Gear hire costs if you need them Petrol costs – its a 3.5 hr cialis buy drive.(so $10-15 approx if you carpool) Food costs I’ll send out details to everyone who signs up. If you wnat to come fill out this form: See you there, Verena
