The Blockhouse. Ah, the Blockhouse.
It goes by many names, most of them not so complimentary, some of them more apt. But all you really need to know is that it’s the big green shed with a whole bunch of stuff in it. Stuff which, for a nominal fee, can be yours to love & cherish for a short period.
It’s run by a group of folk known as the “Blockhouse Officers”, a strange shed dwelling species who are happy to help you get what you want, but get cranky when things are returned dirty or broken (unless of course it was in the course of reasonable use). This is a good position for those interested in helping run the club to try out as well, due to the small time commitment (around an hour a month) but the high importance. Keep in mind blockhouse officers can only hire out bushwalking and MTB gear but no Climbing, Kayaking or Caving equipment. For this equipment you need to contact section reps.
